Who am I?

Hi there, welcome to my abode!

I am Kaira (since I resemble the famous kairy/paisley motif!), a craft-lover from India, on an expedition to explore the vast world of crafts. And this space will hold what I learn about Crafts - their origin, traditions, methods, and of course, some beautiful hand-picked craft pieces.

Dictionary says 'Craft' is 'an art, trade or occupation requiring special skill'. That, however, does not convey the essence of traditional crafts that are hundreds of years old and have been passed down the generations without any formal training. For the artisans who still practise these Crafts, it's not just an inherited livelihood; it's sacred, joyous and sometimes linked to their rituals and beliefs. And its this reverence for their work that adds more value to these priceless works of art.

Whether its ethnic and traditional or chic and contemporary, well crafted objects are always a tribute to beauty, skill and creativity.

On a lighter note: If a scatterbrain says "I craft" he probably means he 'Can't Remember A Freaking Thing'!
